Inkosi All Stars from King Cetshwayo District have been crowned champions of the inaugural KwaZulu-Natal Premier’s Netball Cup after a thrilling victory over eThekwini’s Beach Blitz in the final. The highly competitive clash took place at Victoria Mxenge Sport Complex in Umlazi on Sunday, 9 March 2025, with Inkosi All Stars emerging victorious with a final score of 35-30.

The tournament, which ran for 5 days, featured 10 district teams battling for top honours. Ocean Netters from eThekwini (B) secured third place, while Amajuba Peacemakers finished fourth in the overall standings.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr Mntomuhle Khawula, who attended the closing ceremony, praised the success of the competition and the wealth of talent displayed throughout the tournament.

“We are pleased with how the KZN Premier’s Netball Cup unfolded. The districts showcased incredible talent, and from this tournament, we have selected players who will represent KwaZulu-Natal in national competitions in April, May, and June. We are confident that we have assembled a strong team,” said MEC Khawula. He further expressed hope that one of the upcoming legs of the Telkom Netball League, set to begin next month, would be hosted in the province.

KZN Netball President, Mrs Gugu Ngema, emphasized that the Premier’s Cup is a stepping stone towards elevating netball in the province.

“As KZN Netball, we recognize the need to change perceptions about netball. Our focus is on growth, professionalization, and commercialization, ensuring we create more financial resources for the sport,” said Ngema. She also highlighted that the main objective of the tournament was to ensure that players representing the province come from all districts, promoting inclusivity and development.

Inkosi All Stars' winning captain, SiphiweSibisi, was elated after securing the title against their fierce rivals, Beach Blitz.

“I want to thank KZN Netball and the sponsors for creating this opportunity for us. This tournament provided a great platform for players to prepare for the Telkom Netball League, and many players needed this exposure to enhance their game,” said Sibisi.
