KZN Netball Ready to Celebrate Excellence and Development

The KZN Netball Federation is all set for a landmark weekend as President Gugu Ngema officially declared the readiness of the KZN Netball Awards 2024 and the KZN Netball Junior Festival during an announcement at the Prime Human Performance Institute, Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Reflecting on a challenging yet successful year for KZN Netball, Ms. Ngema expressed gratitude to the Provincial Executive Committee, district chairpersons, players, officials, service providers, and stakeholders who contributed to the federation’s achievements. “As we close 2024, it has been a busy year, not without its challenges, but the support we’ve received has been incredible. We have a huge weekend ahead—on Friday, 22 November, we host the KZN Netball Awards 2024. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, the KZN Netball Junior Festival takes place at Hoy Park, alongside our AGM,” Ms. Ngema shared.

She also emphasized the federation’s core mission: growth through development. “We cannot grow without focusing on nurturing talent, and that is the purpose behind initiatives like the Junior Festival,” she added.

Excitement Builds Around the Awards

The KZN Netball Awards 2024, scheduled for Friday evening at Marine Parade, will honor the dedication and excellence of individuals and teams who have raised the bar in netball. Ms. Ngema announced the nominees for key public-voting categories of which it will close on Thursday at 23h59.

She also introduced a new category, Journalist of the Year, presented by the president herself. This year, the nominees include Sabelo Maphumulo from Bayede News and Nhlakanipho Mnqayi from Ultimate Sports News.

A Partnership for the Future

The Hollywoodbets Foundation, represented by Ms. Vuyisile Ngobese, announced their partnership with KZN Netball to deliver the KZN Netball Junior Festival, a two-day event showcasing young talent and the future of the sport.

“The Hollywoodbets Foundation is proud to support KZN Netball and its efforts to foster development and inspire young athletes. We look forward to an exciting weekend,” said Ms. Ngobese.

Adding to the sense of occasion, Mr. Sibusiso Dlamini from the Sports Confederation commended KZN Netball’s meticulous planning and dedication. He highlighted the importance of such events in fostering development and promoting unity within the community.“We must applaud KZN Netball for its incredible work in ensuring that every district in the province is represented,” said Mr. Dlamini from the Sports Confederation. “When you look at the national team, it’s evident that KZN players are there, proudly carrying the flag for the province.”
